About Us – The VacBack® Story

We’re Kaele and Matt—a team of travelers, innovators, and problem-solvers who’ve experienced the same frustrations you have when it comes to packing. Overstuffed luggage, last-minute repacking at the airport, and the constant worry about weight limits—we’ve been there. That’s why we set out to create a smarter, more efficient way to travel.

The Birth of VacBack®

The idea struck us during one of our many trips, burdened by bulky bags and the stress of packing. Why wasn’t there a better solution? Traditional compression bags were flimsy and required external vacuum cleaners—hardly practical for life on the go. So, we asked ourselves: What if we built vacuum-sealing technology directly into a backpack?

In 2020, we began turning that vision into reality. Combining our backgrounds in design, engineering, and business, we set out to create VacBack®—the world’s first backpack with an integrated vacuum-sealing system. We wanted something durable, sustainable, and, most importantly, effortless to use.

From Concept to Reality

The early days were filled with sketches, prototypes, and countless iterations. We knew the technology had to be seamless—no clunky pumps, no extra gadgets. Just a sleek, functional backpack that could compress your clothes in seconds.

Despite the challenges of launching during a global pandemic, we pushed forward. Partnering with experts in technical fabrics, we developed our first working prototype by August 2022.

A Community-Powered Launch

To bring VacBack® to life, we turned to Kickstarter, where we were blown away by the support. In just 30 days, we raised €350,000, proving that travelers everywhere were just as excited as we were about redefining packing. This success allowed us to move into full-scale production and refine every detail of our design.

Our circular system ensures that when your bag reaches the end of its journey, you can send it back to us—where we’ll recycle and repurpose it into something new. Plus, we offset 100% of our carbon emissions and continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental impact.
